In our often oppressive contemporary moment, what ideas can we employ to create positive change? Twelve international artists explore this question, drawing inspiration from texts by Jewish philosophers such as Theodor Adorno, Hannah Arendt, Walter Benjamin, Ernst Bloch, and others. An invitation to activate one’s own imagination – especially in these challenging times! The perspective of the Jewish minority, which has endured many unbearable moments throughout its history, is this volume’s starting point. Twelve new artistic projects remind us of our own power of creation in times of crisis, and ask: How can society change? Themes include Jewish and universal experiences, life in conflict zones, hybrid identities and their society-transforming potential, and much more. The publication invites us to think beyond fixed parameters.
